The English language is quickly becoming incomprehensible with how quickly slang and definitions are evolving. For instance, someone was talking about their girlfriend’s partner the other day and added no context. Without context, this could mean business partner just as much as it could mean romantic partner. This is why I prefer the term significant other in terms of relationships. It makes things very clear. With how definitions are running together, it’s very hard to parse even when context clues are in place. I’m even having some issues understanding bits and pieces of newer books because of the lack of clarity. Then we have some humorous instances of a similar nature. Someone mentioned that they don’t like wearing pants. They meant long pants but a lot of people are just shortening it to pants now. It makes for some very weird interactions 😛
