  • VS is the first preference here as it has an IDE and a feedback system which has good support. There are others like the cross platform VSCode which might be worth trying out at some stage.

On the Sourcefourge page the licence is “GNU General Public License version 2.0 (GPLv2),” still more popular than other versions, but second fiddle to MIT…[Read more]

Funny, despite Reddit and others, no mention of Fallout in the article, or even in previous adaptations in the talk page. Both have a TV series out, of course, on the watchlist. 🙂

Isn’t it supposed to be the middle of winter over there, yet these fires in LA. Has anything like that ever happened before at such a time of year?

  • Quite possibly. I know I had installed some bits of VS over here when I first set things up, will need to look at it to see which parts. Never been good with VS, though. CMake may be a good option. In the last few years, I’ve been wanting to play around with Meson some. It’s a newer build configuration utility that the GNOME project has been…[Read more]

  • Sounds a likely candidate foe Projects, getting it all to wrok from VS being the major stumbling block. Is that image library still updated?

  • There’s also the getline function: https://en.cppreference.com/w/cpp/string/basic_string/getline

Forgot about it but it reads console input into a string until the end of the line instead of skipping the delimiters like the other operator. Similar functions exist for files as well 🙂

  • Sometimes it becomes necessary to restore the Windows bootloader if it gets wiped, such as during the installation of another operating system side-by-side. On modern Windows, it’s actually pretty easy to fix things assuming one has a recovery USB or similar.

After you boot into the USB, you hit Shift + F10 to bring up a command prompt.

  • Cool! Will need to go through it sometime 🙂

Code doesn’t seem well documented, though. It’s also missing a build recipe so would be a bit difficult to build. Interesting that it uses a lesser known image library. Why not a more common one, I wonder?

  • Sprechen sie Deutsch Nein? About the limit of mine. 😛
Morrowind anyone? Interesting C++ project for budding (or even slightly decrepit) C++ enthusiasts! 🙂

  • Yep, Goldfinger has descended to Purgatory and is still playing his golden harp, they say. 😛
While the Good Ship Murder is seen sailing off into the sunset, Catch Me a Killer (TV_series) looms into view stage right. Phew, some viewing ahead as each of the 11 episodes run 60 minutes, with more for the ads.

  • Yep, they’ve got a lot of goodies available! Bit surprised they haven’t gotten the license for Das Boot with it being so iconic

But it’s also about hope! Sad but it gives us hope that one day we can fix things. Really needs to be taught in schools. We watched it when it first came out but never discussed it, which was a bit of a missed…[Read more]

The first quarter of book two deals with the back story of the Vaults. Yep, I’m just using Fallout terms for sanity’s sake. Anyways! Back story: still Fallout. 😛

Whelp. The charging port on my ancient phone but the dust this morning. It no longer detects a connected cable. Tried it with two different chargers without success. May be fixable but it’s probably not worth the effort of finding the part from a reputable seller. Guess I’ll prepare for the funeral! Was replacing it with the tablet anyways 🙂

  • When the 4k arrives, will have to see those! 🙂
WALL-E is really a very sad movie. 🙂
The Good Ship Murder is brilliant C-grade fare, even the cheesy songs at the end of each solved “mystery.” Like the idea for a RL cruise theme, slight problem, there actually an unsolved case on that very ship. 😛

So I started reading the Silo series. No idea how I came across it, honestly. The writing is pretty good but the world building leaves a lot to be desired as it’s pretty much a carbon copy of Fallout’s lore. In the first book, they make a big deal of the mystery surrounding the Vault (the author calls them Silos) but the big reveal falls flat…[Read more]

We used to get it more often than we do now. When I was back in high school, we’d usually get it once a year even if the flakes never made it to the ground.

Nope! That’s okay! I’ve got blankets and boxes to cover them with 🙂

Still haven’t decided what to do for my birthday yet. I’ll get it figured out 😛

Happy birthday! Half your luck for the snow, there’s even an article about it for good measure. Don’t suppose the tropical plants will be too enthused.

  • Over here, dreaming of a slightly off-white Christmas is good enough so long it deosn’t get too drab grey!
Here’s an uncredited song from Inspector Morse clipped for youtube:

  • Watched WALL-E again the other day. Got it on disc now so I can watch it anytime I want! 😀

And, speaking of, the folks over at Criterion are starting to pump out 4k discs of classics. Interestingly, their shop doesn’t have a list of all films currently in print other than the 4k shop so you need to apply a filter to the master list. Bit of an…[Read more]

    Cool!

On our side of the pond, we have WonderWorks

Haven’t been in years and I wish I was able to. It was a lot of fun!

So we have one weather outlet predicting snow for my birthday here. None of the others have gone that far yet but we’ll see. Just supposed to be flurries but I’ll take what I can get!

Yes, backup is essential, especially through periods of elevated solar activity. DSL continues to work well, most modems support it, and I still chat to Mum through the copper telephone wires on a regular basis.
Bet this is all down to AT&T in lieu of maintenance costs, one way to bring them back on the ready – is – Trump anyone?
