Funny they are not wont to provide a list of “safe” hit counter sites, or even provide a safe hit counter themselves for sandbox purposes, which can be optionally blocked by their own software. A couple of bucks for each use could even go towards the upkeep of their own site. They also block Google Analytics by default apparently.
On the other hand, plugins like ZDN Adblock Detector are overkill, all that’s required here is a script that adds a number to the counter when an ad-blocker is detected. When it comes to other visitors like bots and crawlers, perhaps a project for Cleantalk, a counter on the page for all guests, welcome and otherwise. 🙂
